This troubled me initially, but, the more time I've spent with it, the more I like it. My second criticism of it was that Isolde's raiment was far too ostentatious. I suppose such finery could have existed in the anachronistic world of Arthur in which so much of the mythos is set, but my initial instinct is to think ca. 500 CE. That said, what we know of Mark and his dukedom (of kingdom, as he calls it) of Cornwall, I would doubt that he would have the means to buy his young bride finery this expensive. But that means nothing. When I stopped staring at her I began to examine the background, more difficult to do as it's obscured by shadow, and the thought occurred to me that, during Isolde's lifetime (and longer), Mark's castle never fell that far into disrepair. So I suppose I decided to look at glorious Isolde juxtaposed —and hyperbolically so — against a ruined castle, a ruined duchy, and at least five ruined lives.

Thank you for sharing your work here. I hope that we will be able to see more in the future.
